What Is Matte Paper And Glossy Paper?

Jan 12, 2022

Papers are classified into glossy, semi-glossy, and matte according to their surface gloss.

①High light: mirror copper plate, glossy powder paper, etc.

②Semi-gloss: coated paper.

③ Matte paper: offset paper.

④Special paper includes aluminum foil paper, fluorescent paper, thermal/thermal transfer paper.

Printing high-gloss paper media use resin-enhanced wax-based carbon ribbons or mixed-based carbon ribbons (IMC W103 and M203), especially mirror coated paper, although it is called a copper plate, but the surface is a layer of synthetic material. Material treatment, using M203 ribbon.

The types of ribbons available for semi-gloss papers are resin-enhanced wax-based and regular wax-based ribbons (IMC W103E and W103).

The matt class can only be printed with W103. Synthetic materials are divided into: * PET (polyester) * PVC (polyvinyl chloride) * BOPP (polypropylene) * PE (polyethylene) * PS (polypropylene) * POLYIMIDE (polyethylene amine) * Metallized PET There are mainly laser rainbow film, brushed film, gold (high-gloss, matt) silver (high-gloss, matt).

Compared with paper materials, these materials are stronger and more beautiful, have a wider range of applications to the environment, and have higher requirements on carbon ribbons. Mixed-based and resin-based carbon ribbons are mainly used. The specific carbon ribbon used depends on the use. If there are other requirements, such as anti-corrosion and high-temperature resistance, R303 should be used, but only PET (180°C) can be used for the label at this time. And POLYIMIDE (300 ℃) two kinds of materials. The above is just a general situation, but there are many kinds of materials, and the difference between them is very big. In order to get a satisfactory printing effect, you should test many times according to your own situation to find a suitable ribbon.
